What makes us special
  • CHEF BELL MCLEOD started cooking professionally in 2011 in the Societi Bistro kitchen as a Chef de Partie headed up by Chef Stefan Marais . In the 4 years she worked under his guidance she became his Sous Chef and then Head Chef towards the end of 2014. She then moved on and worked under Chef Harold at Aubergine. She was then given an opportunity to head up the Brasserie in Tokai before opening Bones Kitchen and Bar in October 2018.
  • Her approach to cooking is simplistic and relatable. Good ingredients speak for themselves, so if you’ve got a good understanding of their textures and flavors, you’re golden
  • CHEF BRENDON NOVEMBER started cooking professionally in 2004 with Rudi Minnaar at Beluga and then moved over to Pastis in Constantia when they opened in the capacity of Sous. After a few years moved on to La Colombe for 3 years and from there Maze before opening Bistro 1682 with Brad Ball.  He then went on to work in the Middle-East before coming back home and opening Bones Kitchen and bar in October 2018.

  • It’s a restaurant. It’s a deli. It’s a bar. It’s a lounge, put-up-your-feet place. It’s casual and a unique space in the heart of Woodstock.
  • Bones is uncomplicated quality dining meets easy-going get togethers and meeting space. Great for business breakfasts or lunch meetings, and perfect for date nights or catch-ups with friends.
  • We’re Bones, so yes, we prepare just about anything with bones in it – and a lot without, too. Steaks and ribs? Check. Fish and fowl? That too. Pastas and parmas and porcinis? Definitely. Artisinal breads and great coffee? They’re fresh to grab-and-go every morning.
  • Here, everything we serve is carefully crafted, no matter how small or simple. We’re a little picky – okay, we’re a lot picky – about quality, and that will never change. No corner-cutting is allowed in our kitchen, especially when it comes to ingredients. It’s the finest of the herd, and the best of the bunch, or nothing.
  • You’ll come for our menu, of course. But you’ll stay, and you’ll come again, for the down-to-earth atmosphere. Bones is uncomplicated quality dining meets easy-going get togethers and meeting space. Great for business breakfasts or lunch meetings, and perfect for date nights or catch-ups with friends.
  • There’s an at-home feel in our lounge area, where you can have a coffee while you chat, read or send emails. Our Wifi comes with handy plug points. Order drinks at the bar, and snacks too, hot off the XX-style grill.
